A low centre well for over-height machinery
The deck drops between the axles to carry tall machinery low to the road

Operated by Rite Way Freight LTD
The deck drops between the axles
The well sits lower than any other class, which is what keeps a tall machine under the bridges along the route.
Built for machinery
Excavators, crawler cranes, drill rigs, and mining plant ride in the well rather than on top of a deck.
Routed before it moves
Bridge and wire clearances are checked along the route, and permits and escorts arranged where the dimensions require.
About double-drop and lowboy transport
A double-drop steps down twice: once behind the tractor and again ahead of the rear axles, leaving a well between them that sits closer to the road than any other deck. A lowboy is the same idea built heavier, for machinery rather than for cargo.
Height is what these trailers buy. A machine that stands too tall on a step-deck sits in the well with clearance to spare, which is the difference between a routine move and one that needs bridges surveyed, wires lifted, and a permit for every jurisdiction it crosses. Excavators, crawler cranes, drill rigs, screening plant, and tarp-wrapped process equipment are the usual freight.
The well is shorter than a full deck, so length becomes the constraint rather than height — long pieces run on an extendable instead. Where the machine drives on under its own power rather than being craned into the well, the removable gooseneck of an RGN is the better answer, and where the piece is simply heavy rather than tall, added axle lines carry it.
The other trailers we operate
Where a double-drop stops, one of these starts.

Flatbed
The standard open deck.Steel, machinery, and building materials on an open deck, loaded by crane or forklift from any side. Suited to freight up to around 48,000 lbs that fits within legal height.
Step-Deck
A lower deck for taller freight. The main deck sits lower than a flatbed, adding clearance for equipment and crated cargo that would run over-height on a standard deck — so taller loads move legally without permits.
RGN
Removable gooseneck — equipment drives on.The gooseneck detaches so excavators, cranes, and other tracked or wheeled equipment drive onto the deck under their own power. Configurable to around 150,000 lbs with added axles.
Multi-Axle
Axle lines added for the heaviest loads. For freight beyond standard legal weight, added axle lines spread the load so it can be permitted and moved. The configuration is engineered to the piece and the route.
Extendable
Decks that stretch for long freight.Extendable flatbeds and step-decks stretch to carry beams, pipe, and other long freight that overhangs a standard deck, with permits and escorts arranged to match the length.
Tank & Specialized
Purpose-built trailers for energy cargo.Cryogenic tankers and purpose-built platforms carry LNG and other energy-sector cargo under the handling and safety protocols the freight requires. What moves on a double-drop or lowboy
- Hydraulic excavators and shovels
- Crawler cranes and crane bodies
- Drill rigs and rig houses
- Mobile screening and crushing plant
- Aircraft fuselage and airframe sections
- Tanks and vessels over legal height
Where double-drops and lowboys run
Heavy-haul equipment concentrated near the base and placed with screened operators beyond it.
Québec and Ontario
Owned equipment and the shortest lead times for permitted moves.
Western Canada
Contracted heavy haul for mining, energy, and remote-site delivery.
Atlantic Canada
Project cargo and port moves out of Halifax and Saint John.
United States
Cross-border heavy haul with permits per state along the route.

Lowboys carry the excavators, crawler cranes, and mining plant that make up much of the projects gallery.
